Alterations Express was founded in 1994 and has grown into a multi-location brand serving customers across the region. Over more than three decades, the company has developed the operational knowledge and service standards that support the franchise opportunity.
What services do Alterations Express locations offer?
Locations typically provide a range of services including everyday clothing alterations, bridal alterations, formalwear tailoring, garment repair, as well as our ‘Pants Hemmed While -U- Wait’ service, and express alterations options like same-day, next-day, two-day, and three-day express turnaround services for clothing alterations. Franchisees also have the option of adding dry cleaning services at their location, too.
What training is available to me as a franchisee?
Franchisees will participate initial training programs that introduces the Alterations Express operational system, service standards, and business management processes. Franchisees will attend both online and on-site training at an existing Alterations Express location to get real world, hands-on experience with AE. We also provide franchisees with training programs for supplemental staff, hiring guidance, site selection support, as well as grand opening, marketing and branding support, with ongoing coaching directly with our leadership team.

How long does it take to open a new franchise location?
We estimate franchisees will take approximately 6 to 9 months following your signing of the Franchise Agreement to open an Alterations Express location, but may occur earlier or later depending on the actual time required for you to accomplish items including, but not limited to: securing a Location, obtaining financing, obtaining zoning and other permits, securing the necessary inventory, supplies and products, installing signs, fixtures, and equipment, and hiring and training personnel.
What are the ongoing franchise fees?
As a franchisee, you’ll be responsible for a 6% royalty fee, a local advertising fee of either 2% or $1,000 per month, and a 1% Brand Fund Contribution not to exceed 3% of Gross Revenue.
What size location is required?
Initially, we recommend franchisees obtain a retail space approximately 1,800 to 2,400 square feet
